On the Forum

"That Bicyclist is Correct, Sir" - It doesn't happen much but a bike
cop did say exactly that to the driver he caught blocking a rather
surprised Bill from the Bike Box on Halsted and Clybourn.
...In Defense of a Boulevard Bike Lane - Angry neighbors gather to
discuss the controversial Marshall Blvd Bike Lane with the alderman,
CDOT, and ATA. H' and others sum it up as a fiasco. Dan has detailed
report here.
... How Risky is Bike Riding in Chicago? Ken writes that WBEZ's Curious
City asked, but didn't really answer, the question Wednesday night. A
big 'ole waste of air-time or the start of a long overdue discussion?
What are Your Biggest Pet Peeves as a Woman Cyclist? ATA's Jason
launches a (hopefully) Gals-Only discussion of everything from sexist
bike mechanics to aggressively misogynist drivers.
What Should CPD Enforce? - Given limited CPD resources, how should they
prioritize bike-related traffic "situations"? Skip throws out a few
possibilities that come to mind. What do YOU think?

for moderately paced Century. Bring water and clothing to layer up when
the sun goes down. Don't forget cash for the food stops or a few spare
inner tubes.

Studio in Wilmette for an engaging discussion with this giant of the
bike industry, famed for his innovative use of technology and materials.

Thank you again...

Today (8/6/13) is the day we get to officially open the three bridges on the GWT in Lombard! Here is an article from the front page of the Daily Herald (from the summer of 2000) about the initial efforts to improve the safety of the trails and pedestrian crossings at the dangerous intersection of Grace Street, St. Charles Road and the Union Pacific train tracks by the Friends of the Great Western Trails; http://www.friendsofthegreatwesterntrails.com/images/FriendsoftheGreatWesternTrailsonFront_page_of_the_DH.pdf
Thank you again to the taxpayers of DuPage County especially the residents of Lombard for their support of the 3 bridges on the Great Western Trail which will improve the safety and quality of life for many thousands for many decades to come! Fwd: Google Alert - great western trail

This is small news (see below) in the world of climate change, Snowden, etc. but when government on the local (Lombard), county (DuPage) levels plus state and federal grants come together to build these bridges that will benefit the quality of life for many thousands I think it is great news to pass along.

Please keep up the great work and as always feel free to include the link for the website for the Friends of the Great Western Trails.
